Writer, Researcher, Filmmaker and Educator

I’m obsessed with the liberatory possibilities of the real. I make nonfiction films, research and write mostly about politics and social movements. I studied at Stanford University and UC Berkeley and have published in Al Jazeera America and The Nation. My films have shown at SF DocFest, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and the San Diego Asian Film Festival.

I consult with Research Action Design, a worker-owned collective that teams up with grassroots groups on community-led research, transformative media organizing, technology development and collaborative design projects.

I’ve taught gender and women’s studies at UC Berkeley and led video workshops with Intersection for the Arts.

In my radio days, I produced and sound engineered documentaries and newscasts for the world’s first (and maybe only) international, worker-run newscast, Free Speech Radio News, and a social justice public affairs show, Making Contact.
